GE 30-inch, 1.9 cu. ft. Over-the-Range Microwave Oven JNM7196DKWW

The microwave works fine, but It has missing parts. Above the door, the grills are missing so there's big holes that my hand goes inside. Us the button decal is lifting and I only had it for 13 days. This was installed professionally. In 2 days a service rep is coming over to inspect the microwave. I expect a new replacement

So after receiving the microwave. I noticed it's kinda hard to push the buttons. It takes a good amount of pressure to get them to engage. In my opinion too much. I don't understand why it's set so hard. It could literally be touch sensitive. I don't expect that but I don't see the reason to be so heavy handed. 2nd the door seems how do I put this, cheap. It is just so light, this could be a good thing, we shall see. I don't like how easy it is to slam the microwave. If you close the door by letting go. It is really hard to not seemingly slam it. Even when you close it with your hand on it the entire time, if you don't hold back, it makes a considerable noise. Hopefully all these things will not make the microwave have a short lifespan. I can live with these things as long as the microwave lasts. As I said before, we shall see.

While I have only ever had GE OTR Microwaves, I have to say that I'm slightly disappointed. The first JNM7196DKWW that we installed lasted less than 2 yrs. before the Magnetron (?) needed to be replaced at a cost of time and material exceeding the original cost of the unit. I ordered the same model, hoping the first was a fluke or just a bad part, because ordering a new microwave was the same cost as repairing the old one, again only 2 yrs. old. The new unit, same model number, had different mounting holes and bracket, causing more time and annoyance to an already upsetting situation. Let's hope that the new model lasts more than 2 yrs. or it will be a countertop unit from a big box store going forward. Note to GE Engineering: Thanks for always trying to update and make better changes on your OTR microwaves, but if you keep changing the mounting holes, cabinets will start looking like swiss cheese and loose their integrity for holding the units in place.

Tis microwave suddenly started making the dreaded 'bad magnetron" pulsing groans and emitted a strong smells of burning plastic or electrical parts only 13 months after it was installed. This is a poor value if it only works for about one year.

THis microwave suddenly started making the dreaded 'bad magnetron" groans and thumps 13 months after it was installed. It also emitted a strong burning smell--plastic burning. Of course, this happened just past the 1-yr warrenty period.
